Though the text-decoration attribute is not inherited, its child elements are formatted with the same decoration (for instance, an underline) as their parent. However, even if descendant elements have different color values, the color of the decoration will remain the same as that of the parent element.
In the following example, it appears as though the child (span) might inherit its text-decoration from its parent (div), but it does not. In fact, its text-decoration is set to overline, but it also keeps the decoration of its parent. Note, however, that the color of the underline remains red continuously.
